Falconry
Falconry has been a part of human history for thousands of years. It is an ancient art of flying a bird of prey on quarry, though modern-day Falconry is not only hunting with Birds of Prey but also focuses on Raptor conservation, education and preservation of wilderness areas these birds reside in. In the United States Falconry is the most state and federally regulated sport in the country, the requirements include an intense and comprehensive Falconry Exam, a 2yr apprenticeship under a licensed Falconer, Mews construction and Government inspection of your Mews. Along with obtaining your trapping/hunting permits and capturing/flying your passage Red Tail Hawk.
Owning any kind of Bird of Prey such as Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Owls etc. is federally illegal without the proper permits and will result in heavy penalties/fines &/or prison.
Please do not attempt to keep any birds you may find. All birds including native songbirds are Federally protected under the MBTA- please contact myself or a local rehab to assist a bird in need of help.
Our Raptors are help under State and Federal regulations for the purpose of education. Fees from Private events are used for food, Falconry equipment, medical care, enclosure upgrades and enrichments for our birds.
What is a Mew?
A Mew is an enclosure for a bird of prey in captivity. It includes a weathering area, a shelter, perches and window/bar spacing to a specific standard that keeps the bird in good condition, freedom to self-regulate, ensure foot health, feather quality and proper ventilation for respiratory health. This is an example of our custom-built mews we house our raptors in. This is a "Free lofted" set up with no tethering, so the bird is able to move freely within the enclosure. We also provide flight areas on our sanctuary for conditioning and exercise.
Healthcare
Our raptors are seen annually by a Board-Certified Avian Veterinarian to ensure the health of our birds. From infancy to adulthood, annual checks, lab work and weights are recorded to keep a baseline of overall condition.
Wildlife Rescue efforts
Working along Wildside rehab & concerned residents across Michigan, I will Answer the SOS, secure injured Birds of Prey & other native Avian species & stabilize the bird until it can be transported to the nearest Wildlife rehabilitation center for more extensive treatment & occasionally release Rehabilitated birds back to the wild.
Educational Programs
We provide Hands free yet up close educational programs to schools, homeschool groups as well at our public platform in Frankenmuth, MI. We also provide Falconry demos to those interested in a flight or hunting session.

We provide a unique experience on your big day with an Owl of your choice from our Aviary, you can have handsfree photo opportunities for all in attendance during the quiet cocktail hours.
